In Australia (where I'm from) I haven't heard of anyone crate training except Aussies on here... Who heard of it on here.
And pet books published and wrote by Aussies don't mention it.
VERSUS
The USA users promote crate training as do books published in The USA.
I'm not against crate training (if done correctly) but do you think it's a cultural thing?
Generally it's either paper or pads OR moving them outside when they look ready to go to the toilet (sniffing, circles etc).
Then they get to the stage in a couple of weeks where they tell you themselves.
I crate trained and did that though, it worked best.
Crate at night and watching in the day.
Another thing that I think about is that I don't know ANYONE with an indoor dog but myself, and my roommate asks all the time why the dogs can't sleep outside.
That something I don't hear from USA users I hear a lot of promotion of bringing dogs in at night, I do with mine, but I don't know anyone else who does.
