As a sentient species, you would assume the next step of our expansion is into space, and to colonise nearby planets.
But the cost to do this would be phenominal, and would cost the earth many of its natural resources, hence damaging it considerably.
Does this mean that the planet is designed to infact take this kind of damage, considering it is not permanant and like all planets will dissapear along with the sun, in order to support our expansion into space?
Furthermore, is this an inherent human trait, or is it a familiar trait of all sentient species once they reach a certain point in history i.e. alien species on other planets?
If this is the case, should we be overly concerned abouty enviromental damage?
Im not discussing right from wrong, i know its not morally right to dispose of a planet, or right to infringe on another planet with our damaging traits.
Nor do i think we would move the 'entire' planet, colonisation involves a small number of colonists populating another location, in this scenario earth would be populated but in a rapid decline because we have spread elsewhere.
