Is he interested or just being nice?

My friend has been trying to set me up to go to prom with this guy who (he said he was down before we met), he is aware that I need a date. I initiated everything(texting/fb chatting) and we've hung out a couple times in group settings(he said yes every time). I really couldn't tell if he was interested because he doesn''t' take any initiative and he's not a really flirty type, kinda laid back/slightly shy. So my friend just chatted him and asked him what he thought of me after hanging out and he said "she seems cool. I like her" then she asked if he would go to prom with me" and he said sure.i can't tell if he just feels pressured and is being nice

Ask yourself...why worry about it?
The guy has said you seem cool and he said sure, he will take you to the proms. What more do you want?

Even if the guy is only being polite and friendly, it still does not mean he might not grow to like you. He is being sensible and is taking his time, that`s all.
Just go with the flow, enjoy, and dont ask questions!

snog him and see what he does. try something on at prom like try toss him off or something idk

He is just being nice. He probably isn't interested in you at all. Also, what do you mean by, "So my friend chatted him ..."? Does this mean the same as, "My friend spoke with him..."? Who teaches proper English in schools these days?

maybe its both? he's nice and interested possibly. even if he's shy, he still told your friend that he thinks your koool and likes you. Also, wants to take you to prom? i used to be really shy, and back then if i even told someone else all that, i wouldnt be lying. It's easier to tell someone else then the actual person. Stop worrying so much where it scares him away; since he is very shy.

give him time, dont pressure him. Go with the flow and be a friend, no need to rush into a relationship. You will know if he likes you, after you guys get some alone time

I recon its too early to know if he likes you yet but he must be interested in you and he thinks you are cool so that can only be a good thing so yeah he is probably starting to like you.
