Is india dangerous to travel to?

My mom might be going there for business with the company she works for. She'll live there for 6 months. She's traveled in the u.s. but never to India. It's weird I'm 20 yrs old but I'm scared to lose my mom. Will anything happen to her there? Shes Irish so she will stand out I think. I'm half Egyptian so I know India isn't like the middle east but is it dangerous there?

Like any country there are places that you should avoid and places that are safe. You haven't stated what part of India she will be going to, the people are friendly and once you have been there you almost always want to go back however it can be a culture shock for the first few days, with children begging and the general run down appearance of the streets.
