Is it a sin for a Christian to attend a Jehovah's Witness Meeting?

I'm a Christian, but my friend asked me to come to her meeting tonight at her Hall because she wanted me to meet some of her friends and find out about her religion, she's a Jehovah's witness. We had to sing hymns and say prayers to Jehovah God. Was this a sin? What do I have to do to be forgiven? Do any Christians in the same position know?

Good question.

Jesus is unconditionally loving and forgiving. You attended the Kingdom Hall out of respect for your friend. You don't have to go back especially if you're uncomfortable. Just ask Jesus to forgive you and he will.

The Jehovah's Witnesses are a dangerous cult although on the surface the people seem very nice. They invite you to meetings to get you interested in their religion. Jehovah's Witnesses are not allowed to have friends outside of their church, so if she's a 'friend' it means she's trying to recruit you.

Why is the Watchtower a dangerous organization? Thoroughly research them on Google. You will be shocked.

Among other things it's easy to join but very hard to leave because all your friends and family will no longer speak with you.

Blood transfusions are not allowed so thousands of JWs die needlessly every year.

Victims of abuse are silenced and the perpetraters are protected. Victims are not allowed to go to police and report criminal activity. If they do they can be disfellowshipped and shunned.

Mental illness, depression, and suicide is far greater among JWs than any other religion. There is many more dangers that are not obvious on the surface. Most Jehovah's Witnesses are not aware of the dangers because the Watchtower covers up everything.

Also Jehovah's Witnesses are not allowed to attend any other church, just the Kingdom Hall. Ask her to come to your Christian church. She won't go. Why? She'll risk being disfellowshipped and shunned. Attending another Christian church is considered one of the worst sins you can commit against Jehovah. The Watchtower says they are the only 'true' religion. All others are 'false' and part of Satan's organization.

I think that if you believe in Jesus as God's son and your savior, then yes, you've worshiped a different god, a fabrication of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

If it bothers you (and I think it should, if you're a Christian), then you need to repent of it -- meaning pledging not to do it again -- and ask God to forgive you for it. He's promised that he's faithful to forgive us if we're penitent about it.

There's nothing wrong with studying the beliefs of others. I don't think there's anything wrong with attending a worship service of a different belief, if it's a learning opportunity to enhance your own faith. Where I think it becomes sinful is when you participate in the worship of another god.
