Is it better to buy a high output alternator, or a separate car audio battery?

I have a 1000 watt Kenwood amp going to two 12 inch subs and the lights dim and I've already had to put in 4 different standard alternators. Would it be better to buy a high output alternator, or a battery like kinetik to put in the trunk just for the amp? Someone said that adding a battery would still kill my alternator, is that true?

ho alternator.. an added battery will do no good if ya not getting the juice to charge 2 batteries. i got mine from here for a good price and he sells alot of em so maybe he has one for your car..

i just left my original wiring and did the big 3 with 4 gauge wire added to original electrical wiring and i have no more dimming problems.

not only best but if you put another battery in you need a bigger alt. anyway, you should do both it is worth it and it will keep you from standing side the road with an exploded battery
