is it better to cook steak on the grill...?

is it better to cook a steak on the grill for a shorter period of time with a high tempurture or to cook it slower at a lower tempurature?
to sum all that mumbo jumbo up.

is it better to blast the steaks really fast or to keep the steaks on the grill longer at a lower tempurature.
