Is it Legal to Fire Someone for Refusing to Participate in Racism?

I have worked at a small (6-7 employees) retail store for the last five years. In that time, the owners have had no complaints about my performance. I was recently *ordered* out of the blue to follow all black customers around the store because, in their words, black people are thieves, shoplifters, and criminals. I objected to participating in what I consider racism and told my employer I was happy to continue to closely watch suspiciously behaving customers, but was not okay with simply profiling all blacks as shoplifters and ignoring white thieves. I was fired on the spot. Is this legal?

You need to take this to court. Unlawful termination. Get a lawyer and get everything figured out. They may also throw in hate crimes on the owner. Was anyone else around when they said this? If not, was there a video camera watching that could have recorded this? You will need evidence and your lawyer will get this with a police order.
