Is it my truck's battery or alternator?!?

My battery light was on and on the way home tonight my radio went completely out and then my lights and gauges just suddenly stopped working. So I pulled into a store parking lot and killed the engine. The light in my truck will come on, but it will not start. Could this just be a battery issue or is it my alternator?
 
sounds like the alternator. either charge that battery up and get it tested autozone will do both for free. if it is not the battery then most likey will be that alternator or wires that run to the alternator.
 
Unfortunately, the only way to test will be to have truck running and hook up a battery/alternator tester to it. More than likely, it will be the alternator though, batteries usually die over night or after sitting for some time. A car can run w/o a battery but, will die w/o an alternator so, it sounds like the alternator. Depending on the age of the battery, might be worth your while to change both though.
 
It's the alternator.
I have never seen a bad battery turn the charge light on - I don't even think it's possible.
