Is it ok to have different tyres?

Hi. Just got second hand winter tyres from my friend. Te thing is that 2 of them are 245/45 r17 and other 2 are 225/45 r17. Is it ok if i put 245 on to the rear of the car (as it is mercedes eclass rear wheel drive, current summer tyres are 245/45 r17) and on the front 225. Is it legal? All tyres are almost new. Thanks for your help.
 
The letter R indicates that all your tyres are radials, so you are OK. the only law is about not mixing radial and cross ply tyres.
