...jailbreaking it? I'm not able to sync my phone because OS X 10.4.11 won't let me download iTunes 10, so...basically I can't do much on it, which sucks, and we can't afford to buy a new computer. Are there any apps that let me download the ringtones to settings directly?

There is an app called ringtone maker pro that you can get, it will make ringtones out of the music you choose on your phone. Its pretty cool.
