Is it possible to have strep throat without a sore throat?

My daughter and I both came down with an illness at the same time. I initially thought that it was the flu because we had been exposed to the flu. We both had high fevers, mine around 104, and hers a little lower. She had a severe sore throat, however, while I had severe kidney and intestinal pain. Our fevers have gone, but my daughter was sent home from school. She tested positive for strep at the doctor's office, and is now on antibiotics.

I did not have a sore throat, but our illnesses otherwise followed the same paths. Could I also have strep? Do I need to take antibiotics to prevent passing this on to my students? I need to know soon, because I've already missed a few days from school, but I don't want to cause my students to be sick if I'm contagious.

Thanks.

Some people carry the strep germs without getting sick. You could reinfect her. Check with your doctor. My daughter gets strep easy, so when she has been on the antibiotics for a few days, we clean every door knob and surface in the house so she won't get sick again.
