...sector? My mother dropped her laptop from a distance of about 1.5 feet while it was on, and the hard drive was idling (probably about 3k rpm). Windows Checkdisk found about a hundred unreadable data sectors, and she's currently unable to load Windows--the screen goes black after choosing the startup method either way.
This tells me that the boot sector was physically damaged during the impact.
Is there a reasonable chance of recovering her documents? Would any of you know of a good program to recommend for this?
