It is necessary to travel coz at the end of the day,such an activity would enable a person to discover so many things as he/she travel.It is also good for a wider exposure upon which an individual can tend to evaluate and upgrade his/her thinking in a particular encounter.
Traveling has been a really good way for me to get new perspectives on things. I'm from New England originally, but I go to college in the Midwest and even that has exposed me to totally different ways of looking at things, both from talking to different people and just from living in a different place. I don't think it's necessary—you can move your mind without moving your body by talking to people, reading a lot, etc.—but it doesn't hurt.
I have not traveled extensivly. I was raised in a rural environment with alot of out doors type of activity. I had a wonderful oportunity to seee how humankind can be at one with nature.
I grew up to move to a large city for work. ( I am a amchinist/artist) The city has so many different subcultures that exist by themselves while co-exsisting with each other without any real reliance on nature outside of human nature itself.
This contrast is amazing. To see and examine group dynamics within these subculture within a large city could take a lifetime. Much of ehat I understand about Bhuddism is about he self, and can be better explored in a place os solitude, and the self can be as extensivly as the group when confronted with experience. This can aaply to both urban and rural experience, but thought processes are shaped in many ways by experience. Sociolinguistics is the study of how a language in all it's facets can help shape a society. You cannot really experience this without being in that environment. Their are other studies that are the same. If you cannot travel, look for how you fit within aagroup dynamic in your family, school and work. See hoe things change when prople leave or enter those groups. What about those individuals made real differences in the group. How does this afffect you, and can you learn to manipulate your environment for the better of yourself and those around you. Other studies can be done without travel as well. Einstein did thought experiemnts while lookiong out his window at a patent office where he wotked as a clerk. This is where he did the base work for relitivism. Travel if you can, but don;t ever stop thinking.
