is it safe to buy a 6month german shepherd puppy?

i have a 2 yr son, cat and husband.i'm scared it'll flatten my son and eat my cat .do u think i should go w/a 8wk puppy or a older 6 mth gsd?

Any dog from a young age can be taught to be gentle around kids and other pets. My 150 pound German Pyrenees could easily bowl small kids over but she knows that when a little kid pets her or is around her she has to be care full and sit still and not get over excited. Also if they're introduced to cats from a young age they will be FINE.

I'd vote for the puppy. He'll grow up with everyone and be more likely to be friends with the cat. As a bonus, he'll be very protective of your son.
