Is it safe to draw power from my car head unit?

The wiring for my cigarette lighter is shot, and I don't feel like looking for the problem. I was going to just wire it into the power and ground for my head unit. I was worried about this being potentially bad for the head unit or any devices I connect to the cigarette lighter. Any input is appreciated.
