Is it true that at some point in time the Koran was standardized, and many old parts

not used again ? I have heard that the earliest copies of the Koran/ Qur'an were slightly different to what is available on print these days, Is that correct ?
From what I have heard some Turkish Sultan standardized the holy texts a few centuries after the original 7th or 8th century original hand-written Korans and if so, what was changed ? And why ?
 
Yes, it's true. All variations were collected and destroyed. All new copies were copied from the single version that became available. What change? I doubt if anyone knows.
 
The Qur'an has never been changed and tampered with.
It's purely God's word, which is why every Qur'an in the world is the same, no matter where it's from.
That's one of the many miracles of Islam.
