Is it weird for an ex-therapist to call to check up on an old patient?

I ended therapy last week. My therapist asked if she could call me from time to time, or if I would call her, to let her know how I'm doing. I think this is a little weird. We had a business/therapeutic relationship, and now it's over. Opinions?

I don't think it is weird at all. Especially if you had to go to therapy and its over. Your therapist just cares after listening to your problems for a certain amount of time and just wants to make sure you are ok. Don't over think it, he/she is just being nice.

therapists aren't always all there, and some of them are just very compassionate people and that's why they got into this line of work. I still keep in touch with some people i spoke to but it's definitely not something that every therapist does. She may be worried that maybe your treatment ended too soon, or just curious on how you're progressing. If you feel you're fine and don't feel comfortable with her contacting her then all you need to do is say so and she won't call anymore.
