Well yes it is a sci fi because dinosaurs existed on earth 65 million years ago until an asteroid hit and they went extinct. so yes it is sci fi in the sense that there are dinosaurs involved in the movie and we know they used to be.
But however if you are asking if the scientific facts were real or not then i would say no because we cant bring dinosaurs back to life because extinction is permanent!
Well, in my simplistic mind, yes. I think of sci fi as anything which appears to be based on science, but isn't.
Artificial dinosaurs, created by the simple-sounding method of extracting DNA from x-million year old mosquitoes, and patching the missing DNA strand with frog DNA just about fills that bill. Sci-fi doesn't always have to be about Aliens, Predators, etc.
But, it does one thing no one can deny--makes for about an hour and a half of darn good entertainment! Enjoy!
