Is knowing and being too nosy ignorable?

My mom is a sneaky person, and she is doing something I believe in my opinion is wrong. She is reading my sisters diary while she is at school, and she tells me that my sister decribes my mom out with words like bi*ch, I hate you, Why won't you die, etc. It is also irresponsible of my sister to not be so careful about where she stashes her diary as well, but she probably assumes she can trust her family not to read it. My mom is so nosy. What should my mom and sister do?

Ya know, I am just one of those parents that deeply feels that a parent should never have to get to the point of needing to read a child's Journal or Dairy to find out information that the child should be open enough to talk to the parent about.

Actually id it were my daughter and she felt the need to write things like that about me I would strip everything from her that she did not need to survive. Period. She is being ungrateful towards her mother.

There are reasons why your sister feels justified to do this and those reasons need to be discussed openly without the fear of a fight between her and your mother.
