There are many - many people that live on their boats in the north - during the boating season. I used to be one of them - only I was in Buffalo, NY at the time.
Once you become a live aboard, the only real hard part is moving back off your boat during the winter, that's why I now simply cruise down south for the winter.
Actually, there are many great places all throughout the Great Lakes & Canada where live aboards spend the boating season - living full-time on their boats.

Oh. . . my advice? Get ready to get hooked on the lifestyle. It is a wonderful relaxing way to live, and simply a great experience. You'll be wanting to move south, and do it all year long.
