Is my rat sick or depressed?

My 6 month old rat, Grimlock, isn't is normal self, I've noticed. He usually is perky, playful, and curious, always the one to be the first one out of his cage and poking his nose into everything. Reccently, he had a respirtory infection, the one where porphorine(sp) drips from his nose which he caught from his cagemate. Still, with the infection he still was his usual, happy self.

The other day my partner and I thought that we should slowly introduce them to our new cat so we can keep them where we were the most (as of now we have to keep them in a seperate room where they won't be bothered by the cat). However, the cat freaked them out and Grimlock hasn't been the same since.

I've been giving them antibiotics for their infections. His cagemate, Asher, is well, but he still has the infection.I'm going to take him to the vet again soon. Asher still acts normally - in fact, he's become even perkier and active, but Grimlock now just hides in his favorite wicker tube and doesn't want to come out of his cage without a good reason to do so (such as treats or when it's mealtime), and even then he is hesitant. Is this because his infection is worsening or because he's depressed?
