I'm just curious because lots of people throw big 750 double pumpers and such on little small blocks and expect it to pay off. Realistically, can't a 600-650cfm carburetor provide more then enough fuel for almost any performance small block or mild big block that has less then 400hp or smaller then 400ci? I know that even a really mild 454 or 500ci V8 should have about a 750cfm carb.
Also, what exactly does a double pumper carb do? Do they provide 100 additional cfm's once the throttle is kicked in? So would a 600 double pumper provide 700cfm's of flow at full throttle? In that case, what's wrong with a regular 700cfm carb?
