Is Puerto Rico a nice place to go on vacation?

My husband and I usually take a cruise every year between feburary and March. This year we decided we wanted to go to Jamaica but we have waited to long to get our passports so we have decided to go to puerto rico since we wont need a passport. Will this be a good time for us? What are some things we shud consider doing while there?
