the religion of Adolf Hitler who believed he was doing God's work. Hitler was christian actually.

Both Stalin and Hitler modeled their totalitarianism after the idea of a all seeing all knowing God. one you must not question.
Lebanese- you seem rather pessimistic lol
**Texas is a very religious state and has the highest crime rate, or one of the highest, in America.**
LHOOQ- You can't be serious lol. if acid were thrown in my face most people would feel sympathetic or would not want that to happen.
it's called sympathy, something that's innate in most humans to some degree.
Veemon- the "golden rule" predates the Bible. people create morals and unfortunately religion too which distorts those morals.

no
people will be degenerates with or without religion
we're disgusting animals

No way, just look at your picture. The world says fornication is right, as well as abortion, self adoration, money, ....

How does religion " hinder morals" when more than half of the "moral codes" we hold today, whether in law books or unspoken; came from religion ? That is not a lie.

If you had asked about religion vs freedom, THEN we could have a discussion.

But it is .. well , not a very logical argument to say that religion somehow "impedes" morals, when in fact most morals - even if now dettached from religion - did come from religion

Are you serous? You think we have morals in our society? Go to any high school, more than half the kids there are not virgins. Also, most of them have most likely done some sort of drugs. Religion is helping to create a moral society, but people are too bigoted and ignorant to see it

bwahahahaha

No.

"In some parts of the world, yes." -- Morality is subjective. Maybe they aren't moral by YOUR standards, but maybe they are by theirs.

"Great, let's throw some acid in your face. It's subjectively moral to somebody in the world, right?" -- Could be. I am not aware of all the different sects in the world.

I'd love to see some actual evidence of how it isn't.

"the religion of Adolf Hitler who believed he was doing God's work. Hitler was christian actually. " -- Wow, not even close. Hitler believed in evolution and was trying to do his part through (not so) natural selection. His regime was very much influenced by darwinian theory.

Um, I'm confused by what your link is proving. Some people threw some acid on some lady. Ok...? This is somehow proving that morality isn't subjective?

"LHOOQ- You can't be serious lol. if acid were thrown in my face most people would feel sympathetic or would not want that to happen.
it's called sympathy, something that's innate in most humans to some degree." -- Except for, ya know, the guy who threw it on you...

"It's actually a pretty common practice in the Middle East, and it's wrong no matter who you are or where you are, and yet people do it because their religion tells them to. If you think there's nothing wrong with that, you need your head examined." -- Aka its NOT wrong to THAT religion...you just proved me right. I never said I would do something like this. Did I?

"It's right to that religion, but who says that religion is right?" -- LOL, this is my ENTIRE point. Just because YOU don't agree with it doesn't make it any less moral to THEM.

"It's never moral to end or ruin lives for no reason. That's objectively true." -- Ok, we're going in circles now. I'm not even going to get into my stance on reasonings behind things.

Primitive man lived a life of superstitious bondage to religious fear. Modern, civilized men dread the thought of falling under the dominance of strong religious convictions. Thinking man has always feared to be held by a religion. When a strong and moving religion threatens to dominate him, he invariably tries to rationalize, traditionalize, and institutionalize it, thereby hoping to gain control of it. By such procedure, even a revealed religion becomes man-made and man-dominated. Modern men and women of intelligence evade the religion of Jesus because of their fears of what it will do to them--and with them. And all such fears are well founded. The religion of Jesus does, indeed, dominate and transform its believers, demanding that men dedicate their lives to seeking for a knowledge of the will of the Father in heaven and requiring that the energies of living be consecrated to the unselfish service of the brotherhood of man.

Do not overlook the value of your spiritual heritage, the river of truth running down through the centuries, even to the barren times of a materialistic and secular age. In all your worthy efforts to rid yourselves of the superstitious creeds of past ages, make sure that you hold fast the eternal truth. But be patient! when the present superstition revolt is over, the truths of Jesus' gospel will persist gloriously to illuminate a new and better way.

Could your question be more vague??

Let's see, no religion in Nazi Germany, how did that work out?

No religion in the Soviet Union, how did that work out?

In some parts of the world, yes.

Here you go, PIMP

It's actually a pretty common practice in the Middle East, and it's wrong no matter who you are or where you are, and yet people do it because their religion tells them to. If you think there's nothing wrong with that, you need your head examined.

It's right to that religion, but who says that religion is right?

It's never moral to end or ruin lives for no reason. That's objectively true.

Religion is not the same thing as morality. Therefore, just because religion says so, doesn't mean it's morally right.
