Is shaolin kempo karate effective?

So today I found a karate school that's close to me. The school seems legitimate. I feel like I am being prejudice because he is fat and I think he can't teach. but I haven't given it a try. He is a 7th degree black belt in shaolin kempo karate, and he is 2nd degree black belt in jujitsu. Do you think I should go to this school?
 
Shaolin kempo karate, is that not the fred villaris crap, and the largest mcdojo in the known world
Where you can be a 7th degree in as alittle as 5yrs or 3000 dollars which ever comes first.
 
If he is a big guy, but has a high qualification in the martial arts, he knows what he's doing trust me.
Note: Fat guys can have alot of stamina if they have trained enough
