Is the 1999 Mercedes-Benz CL 500 bad/hard to drive in the snow?

I just bought this used-car but people are already telling me since i live in New York that for snowy conditions, its going to be not useful. is this true? if it is, what's bad about it? why cant you drive it in the snow?

No rear wheel drive car has the traction of a front wheel drive. You can help by putting weight in the trunk, but that causes other problems
