Is "The 33 Yr. Old Rookie" by Chris Coste appropriate reading for 5th grade boy?

My son is a big Phillies fan and a great little-league/travel catcher and is interested in reading this book. He is on a 6th grade reading level and mature for his age. Just want to know if this would be ok for him.
