Is the doom and gloom on the economy a self fulfilling prophecy?

If the economy ran on positive thoughts, we would all be wiping our ass with hundred dollar bills and we would have never gone in a recession. As it is, our economy is starting to face the reality that people don't have unlimited piles of gold to pay for their mortgages.

You could see it that way. Anytime yayhoos on Wall St. here bad news, they sell off - and normal schmoes like you and me save and don't spend.
