i ride a kx 250, and im looking at these videos on youtube of people sitting on the bike just kick their foot down and it starts.....for me i have to really crank down my foot to get it to turn over

is there something wrong with the kickstart or is it just normal with the 250 engine size?

doubftully there is something wrong with your bike... merely your techinque in starting...

kick the bike thru a few times until you feel the pressure of the kick starter lever ... that is the compression stroke.

bring the lever back to the top, and jump where your right leg is almost straight coming down on the lever with a little bit of a kick at the bottom of the stroke... VARAROOMMM .. she should kick off...

sounds like you have good compression on your bike, just sounds like a little technique is needed in learning how to start her...

nothing wrong with the kick start mechanism, just need a little more spin of your weight coming down to fire it over...

use your weight not your mussels if your weight cant kick it over and you weight more then 100 pounds then you need a new kick starter cuppling and rotators it could also have rust on the reeds if you have had water up in the kick starter housing

If you tried to kick start your bike using your hand, you'd probably break your wrist.
If the guy in the video is tall or has strong legs, kick starting a 250 is easy.
It depends on the strength of the rider - how hard or easy it is to start your model bike.
I struggle to get an open class 4 stroke dirt bike running, where as a person half my size can start them like a 50cc scooter.
