Is the Mayan prophecy actually Doomsday or is it The Great Change?

The Universe is orderly not random. I have heard that the Mayans never prophesied anything about the world ending in 2012. Their calendar simply ends on that year because they never finished it, probably because they all died out before finishing it. I believe the history channel will be running a show on this very subject soon, it might be worth watching.
