How is he Irish?, is it his surname that is making people think he is?, if it is i don't see how because Irish surnames that start with a O have O' so his surname should be O'bama, but it's not it's Obama. My surname is Irish and when it's spelt in Gaelic it has a O'.
I searched on the internet for Obama and there is nothing really about the name, only that it's the name of the next president of USA, and there's nothing saying it is a Irish name. The name has to be some African name or something.

If it isn't his surname that makes him have Irish roots then can someone please tell me how is he Irish and If anyone finds something on the internet that can prove he is please give the URL.

btw i've got nothing against him, i think he'll make a good president, i've just been trying to work this out and could do with some help :)
I live in England and there might of been some news about this that may of not reached the UK.
or maybe it's just us Irish trying to claim that he has Irish in him lol. This song was on the news not long ago: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0xFWbarrsc

I know i'm going a bit over the top with this, but it's been bugging me for ages and recently on the news they showed them playing the Obama song in the US in front of Obama.

He Might Actually Have Irish Blood Since I Have No Idea What His Mother Ancestry Is.

Yes, he is Irish but his name isn't , his Irish ancestry is on his white mother's side
