Is there a point to arguing with someone with outlandish views?

I know a guy trying to invent a perpetual motion machine, I know another guy who said these Indian peoples found the cure for aids, I also know a guy that says he is a fighter pilot, engineer, has 47 million dollars, and he removed his own appendix.
I am not talking religious or political arguments....but really really out there stuff. Should one attempt to correct, or just let it be?
Mellow,
this guy's "cure" involved cactus and urine.

To each there own I say! As long as they are not stepping on your toes what does it matter in the long run. They know the truth and they are the ones who have to live with this outlandish life/viewpoint. It is not the healthiest way to live (the one with 5 different lives) but it is their life. Good luck to you!

Any attempt to correct would be an exercise in futility. However, most inventions do start out with people thinking they are outlandish. Television is one, and computers are another. Who would have thought 100 years ago that we would be in the technological age? Anything is possible. So I would try and be open minded to these outrageous viewpoints. (But you can laugh about them when you're alone:)
