Is there any hidden fees with a BlackBerry cell phone ?

There's no point in having a smart phone unless you get a data plan with your phone minutes and texting plan.

I've heard that you have to get a plan just for the BlackBerry.Also have to get a plan for the web,and extra plan for texting.I'm upgrading soon,my contract is with AT&T. I'm thinking of a BlackBerry but wanted some input first.Thank you to all answers.
