I have a free day on Saturday and I want to see as many places as possible. Two things on my list are Gyeonbogkung palace and DMZ.

Any suggestions on how I can plan this trip with public transport will be highly useful. I will start from GMP (domestic airport) on Saturday morning and have to go back to ICN (intl) on Sunday morning

The DMZ trip has to be planned a day in advance so I wouldn't recommend doing that as you might not be able to go on that day. It can be cancelled for any reason at the last minute.

Since you want to do a day tour, try the Seoul City Tour Bus. You pay one fee and can get on and off at certain stops throughout the city. You still have to pay entry fees to exhibits or museums, but you can see a lot of Seoul in one day that way. There should be a Tourist Information Center at Gimpo. They can tell you which tour would have Gyeongbukgung on it. The National Folk Museum is attached to Gyeongbukgung. It's pretty nice. I would also recommend the Korean War Memorial Museum and a trip to Han River and Namsan.
