Is there any way of identifying which disc came with which box...?

Me and my brother have the same xbox 360 game, (call of duty 4)...
The 2 discs seem to be the same, exept 1 has a load of scratches and one doesn't... but i dont remember mine having any on, but he claims the clean one his his.....
The box's are slightly different... mine is the game of the year edition, his is the original
Is there some serial number which would be on the box and on the disc?
Any help would be appreciated
 
look ON the face of the disk it will say somewhere they year of production either printed on it or inside the centre wheel using laser engraving in the disk.

if the boxes have differing yers then the disks will also have them..
