my sisters cell phone was stolen a few weeks ago....(motorola ROKR)...a few days later one of her friends from her phonebook received a random phone call from a lady who had purchased this cell phone on craigslist and she was angry because she couldnt connect it since there was an insurance claim pending on this particular phone...anyway, my sister then filed a police report about this and the lady who had the phone didnt just want to turn the phone over to her because she bought it for $180 and she wanted my sister to buy the phone back from her for $100...my sister refused and had cops call and tell her to turn the phone in...so the lady then set up an unlock code on it, and when my sister picked it up at the police station...she turned it on and it said "enter unlock code"...so she then took the phone to her phone carrier (metro pcs) and they told her this particular phone, since its a newer model, cannot be bypassed is this true????? (please dont anwer if u dont really know) thanks!!!!!

One - it was against the law for the lady to ask your sister for money for the phone as that would be embezzlement. It is up to your sister if she wanted to give a "reward" or not to the lady.

Two - There are programs out there that can get into the phones file system. Metro PCS I do believe is a CDMA company. I only say that because (info for others...) had it been a GSM phone (uses sim cards) you could just press the menu key when it asks for the security code, which will then again ask for the security code which would be all zeros. As to one of the programs you can use, go here: Smart-Clip is a professional device for unlocking cell phones. SmartMoto overview scroll all the way to the bottom and download and install "v1.23 European" of smartmoto. You will have to first install necessary Motorola drivers to your computer so that the phone will be recognized. Connect phone and run Smartmoto program and top tab should be set to Comp USB (or something like that) then press "search phone". It will not display too much info of your phone, if any as this program is used to unlock GSM Motorolas. After phone is connected, go to the service tab on the left side and press master reset. This will reset the phone back to original state. Good luck.
