Is there something I can buy with out taking a class to find out when I use like F1

F2 Ctrl Fn alt? I guess I need a book for dummies as we are messing up by hitting buttons that turn off turn on etc.
 
Those are keystroke shortcuts for old DOS (Disk Operating System) commands
.google DOS Commands and print out the list.
Then check your owner's manual and see what special commands the manufacturer has assigned to some of them for your model of computer.
Different softwares use them for different commands such as old computer games
