So i bought my horse a new salt block about a week and half to two weeks ago and shes already finished? it seems kinda quick especially since shes outside for most days and only comes in at night. is this normal?
its in her stall.

Is this a regular white salt block or one of those reddish, salt/mineral blocks? What size is it, is it one of those large, almost too heavy to pick up or one of those that you can pick up with one hand? How long has it been since your horse had had free choice salt in front of him? Those are all variables that make it a little more difficult to answer your question. If it has been some time since your horse has had salt in front of him, and if the block is one of those small ones, then there is nothing to be worried about. One thing that a horse will usually not do, and that is overdo on the salt, their needs will pretty much dictate how much they will eat. That's one of the ways that farmers control how much minerals that their horses and cows eat, they mix it with salt and the salt regulates how much they eat. Every time that I put out new salt blocks (of course I don't put one out until the old one is completely gone) it's like a new toy, like they hadn't had salt in a month. So, like I said, unless your horse has eaten one of those huge (about 14"X14" square) blocks all by himself in less than two weeks, I wouldn't worry about it. He has probably been sweating because of the weather and they lose salt when they sweat...did any other animal have access to your horse's salt block? Maybe he didn't eat it all by himself...hope this information helped.

is it in a stall or in a shelter? if it has been outside and not underneath anything, it either disintegrated from rain/ snow or melted in the heat.
