I know that's phrased wrong, but that aside;
I got an afghan hound puppy and he's amazing. Before I got him I heard they don't listen, and will run off whenever they get the chance. (Very independent)

My pup (AKC registered and all that chizz, about 5-7 months old) follows me everywhere, sleeps right beside me at night (No night-time accidents) and even knew where I was pointing to and what pointing was. His last owner kept him and his litter outside mostly, but had a doggy door, and he came with fleas, also his parents looked really scruffy and not the nicest dogs out there. So I wasn't expecting him to be so well-mannered and sweet.

He doesn't like walking on a leash, but if I drop the leash he'll follow me, never running away.

Is this normal puppy-ness. Or am I lucky to have such a nice dog, I'm really proud of him, and just curious. <3

(Oh and I'm working on my grammar, is this easy enough to read/understand?)

yes normal for a puppy but he will grow out of it when he gets older so just enjoy it for now, he sees you as the 'pack leader' and as his parent but as he gets older he will become more independent - but that doesn't mean that he will stop being sweet, or that he will stop loving you and he will probably still want to sleep beside you
