Is this rumor about molesters in prison true?

We always hear how child molesters get beat up in prison, I want to know if this is actually true, and how do you know if so, I HOPE it is.

i'm pretty sure it is, i don't know from any experience or whatever but every1 says so, people, books, tv, ect.
child killing/raping/molestering is the lowest form of crime, and even criminals (the ones that dont do it) hate it. and if u think about it, in a place like jail, where people r put in for being violent ect, whats going to happen to someone who's hated? and it's not like the guards will really care either (they hate them as well).

Yes, it's true.

A lot of prisons have policies whereby sex offenders get put in a separate section of prisons to everyone else so they aren't killed.
