Yes unless your laptop has a 2.5 inch IDE hard drive, it depends on the age and model of your laptop as to it having either a SATA or IDE 2.5 inch hard drive installed in it.
Always post the complete model number, install operating system as well as brand when asking a question.

Considering toshiba has been making laptops for years and probably more than 600 different models, how could we answer that? If you want tech help in here, muster up enough brain cells to post the model number.

If the laptop is still working, type msinfo32 in start/search field (start>run xp)
Expand Components
Click the + in front of Storage
Click Disks

Right panel shows the model number of your hard drive.
Type it in search engine to see if it is SATA or IDE.

If it is sata that drive will work if you laptop controller is 3Gb/s.

The Seagate is compatible. Serial ATA-300 is 3Gb/s. Good to Go.
