im writing a a story about a group of kids, ages 16 to 7, who have super powers and are on the run from the government. Now a key part of the story is when the second main character is caught and is brain washed into killing the president of the USA for them. (Dont worry its a made up president and not obama)

Now is this to dark for a teens book? Because I know alot of kids and teen books get sensored alot and the ones that dont have alot of controversy?

I want to keep it in the book because it is important to the plot and character development, not just his either but all the kids.I just want to know if u think it would be to controversal?

Thanks

I don't think it would be too controversial because teens have been exposed to a lot more things than in the past. The maturity of the teens now allow them to handle matters such as brain washing with much ease. So as long as the situation is presented tastefully without too much gore and violence, I believe it would not be considered controversial.

Teenagers experience a lot of bad things in their lives..(rape, drugs, abuse) and they also see people getting killed on the news, and on movies every single day. It is not controversial at all....if say it were a children's book then yes, but these are teenagers.
