I'm ttc, and I read that saliva can slow sperm down... is this true?? Also, I read that showering in hott water is no good for a girl who's ttc...... can anybody with experience clear this up for me?

1) You can't create enough saliva in the necessary places to have any measurable effect on sperm while trying to conceive. A single ejaculate contains literally tens or even hundreds of millions of sperm, and is ejaculated high into the vagina near the cervix. There just can't be enough saliva present there to make a difference.

2) Hot showers are fine. If you were pregnant, you'd want to keep your body temp below 100 degrees, which would mean no standing in a super-hot shower for half an hour. But you can take a short, hot-ish shower and have no ill effects. Again, though, this is only relevant DURING pregnancy and has no impact on your fertility prior to conception.
