Then why does he have an aunt and and uncle?
And how come Aunt Polly exposes the two of them at the end of the book?
Is Tom imaginary or not? Please explain.

I do not believe that Tom is imaginary. The Adventures of Tom Sawer gives him too much background for Twain to suddenly switch gears and present him as a non-real figure in a subsequent novel.
