Islam: When discussing the Prophet, is it better to use PBUH or SAW?

well thats nice of you :)

you can choose whichever one you want or you dont have to use either


when speaking with muslims I generally say "sallallahu alayhi wassalam" i.e. (saw)....simply becuase its original and they understand what it means...and with non muslims "(pbuh)"

As a non-Muslim, I do not wish to be disrespectful so would like to know the proper etiquette.
 
English: PBUH
Arabic: SAW

It's better to use (saw) which stands for:

sallallahou alayhi wasallam
"May Allah honour him and grant him peace."

PBUH stands for Peace Be Upon Him.

PBUH is used for most Prophets.
SAW is used specifically for Prophet Muhammad(PBUH).
