Israel Blockades Lebanon

I wish I could Gajah, but I don't have any familiarity with the culture. I haven't spent any time studying it, or researching it, and my only visit to Israel was a 4 hour stop during which I never left the airfield. I just can't speak intelligently about it. I could make some assumptions, but that's all they'd be: assumptions. I can do a little digging though, and see what I can find out this afternoon.

dead innocent civilians all around!

p.s. 7 canadian citizens dead in lebanon over the weekend and stephen harper our new conservative pm is still calling isreal's response, measured.

Again, I agree that lying is bad in both cultures. However, it is factually incorrect to say that the concept of what constitues a lie is the same in the Arab world as it is here in the west. It just isn't that way. Trying to deny the supremacy of relationship obligations over objectivity demonstrates a lack of familiarity with the region on your part. In short, basically your just wrong on this one.

No disagreement with you here at all. However, you missed the point. I wasn't trying to imply that the religion stops people from 'doing dirt', I was pointing out that the culture's concept of what constitutes 'dirt' largely stems from the religious underpinnings of that culture regardless of how pious the people may or may not be.

In your entire post, you referred to the Israelis as "Jews". You applied the religious identity to the nation, never once referring to the political entity of the State of Israel. Don't try and weasal out of your own wording now.

I think the next time someone does not return my DVD's or Books I'm gonna burn their house down. According to your logic its fair right, or more like far right?

P.S. The rocket attacks only increased after the Israelis attacked, more like retaliation than an provocation. Besides is it not the Torah that says “an eye for an eye”.

Damn dude... you borrowed some of inthespirit's DVD's or books... didn't return them.... and now he is going to burn your house down!!!

And the US gov. won't say peep about it!

There is a world of difference between all muslims and their supporters and Hezbillah and their supporters. The difference being that Israel has no quarrel with Muslims who are not trying to destroy her. Hezbollah is trying to do exactly that.

Yeah unfortunately Israel sure doesn't be seem to bother itself with that sort of distinction during their last round of bombing runs of civilian targets in Lebanon.

Pfffttttt.

And when Hezbollah stops hiding amongst the civilian population, Israel will be glad to only bomb the Hezbollah locations.

Perhaps you could share some wisdom on how they could do that? I think some might think they are doing precisely that by attacking the militants.

Perhaps he has a reason to say so? More likely though, Harper is just in cahoots with that evil Bush.

Yeah but in the meantime then let's just randomly bomb the living hell out of the civilians who really haven't got much choice in the matter.

Since I can see you've got your genius cap on maybe the Americans should have just bombed NYC and thereby averted 9/11 from happening. I mean after all those terrorists were hiding among the civilian population right.

That is some brilliant reasoning. Thank you.

Well, you can make that type of assumption if you want, but hopefully you would go to jail for a very long time because of it.

It is interesting to note that the militants do not go after buildings or property but rather people. Israel goes after property and buildings and people condemn them for destroying buildings. I thought people were worth more than buildings.

Yeah, notice they only increased. That means they were happening before. Kind of like they attacked Israel before and now that Israel attacks back and hits harder, everyone is supposed to take their side. Perhaps the smart thing would be to not try to metaphorically, punch the biggest kid in school in the nose and see how they react?

Are they just randomly bombing? I didn't think so. They were bombing where rockets were being fired from and at known locations for the Hezbollah. Also, weren't they dropping pamphlets warning people that a bombing would occur? It seems like someone here said their family member or friend was stuck there and that was occuring. Kind of takes the idea of trying to kill innocents and shuts it down.

Your NYC comment is downright stupid. It isn't a good analogy to what is happening at all.

Unfortunately, the people that Israel is fighting are even less concerned with protecting innocent civilians.

Out of curiosity - just exactly how does Israel build bombs and missiles that discern between buildings and people - especially civilian populations?!

Seems to me that some of there more recent bombs and missiles must not have been paying attention when that was being taught to them.

So if someone in your neighborhood killed or kidnapped someone, it would be okay to wipe your neighborhood off the face of the map to get that one person, just to make sure no one from your neighborhood EVER did this again?

Hmm... does nothing of the sort... unless your getting your news from a very different source.. seems to me that Israel sure got a lot of innocent civilians up to this point and time with their bombs that you figure can discern between building and civilians... .... I doubt the Hezbollah has kids or women firing those rockets in Israel.

They sure as heck didn't have Canadians firing the things while on holiday.

You'd like to believe it is but it's the logical conclusion to the idiocy that I was responding to... don't talk poo if you don't the flavor it leaves in your mouth is the motto.

Hezbollah is a military force that violates the Geneva convention by a) not waering uniforms and b) hiding amongst the general population. Furthermore they use civilian buildings to launch attacks from. You truly expect ANY country to just sit back and NOT retaliate because the cowards attack from appartment buildings?

And BTW, what was Hezbollah's reason for attacking Israel? Israel withdrew behind the internationally recognized Israel-Lebanese border 6 years ago and was living in peace with Lebanon.
