You do know that at that time (1989) your family members would have had Soviet passports. A Soviet passport makes no mention of race or religion, because we were all comrades and all equal, supposedly.

Your sister had problems in an Azeri uni because she was Jewish? And your dad had problems with work because he was Jewish? Are you sure, your not misplacing your heritage for some other problems? I may be wrong of course, not much to do about it now.

But, do take my word for it, in Azerbaijan religion means nothing, that’s why we drink booze, eat pork and don’t give a crap about who’s from where. Even Armenia, I grew up around Russian, Armenian, Azeri and Jewish family friends and nothing has changed, all these people are still as close as they ever were, regardless of what has gone on.

actually, it's a fact that Soviet passports had Nationality on them. And both Armenian and Jewish were considered nationalities.

I am not misplacing my problems. But I am not going to go into a full discussion of these issues with you, or anyone on a website.

Another fact, this one less verifiable, Jews were not admitted into certain jobs and universities because they were Jewish. It was never admitted, but it was nevertheless true.

The fact is that I know not all Azeris are like that, be they whatever religion. It is never the majority that makes things worse. But when you and your family are threated by a minority, you don't take chances. My parents had all kinds of friends too.

You don't have to believe me, that won't really affect anything.

(But I would appreciate it if you stopped drawing nice and serious maverick out of his lair and let mean maverick do his thing)

hiding your army in the population is essentially the definition of what guerrilla warfare is all about.

This whole term 'human shield' is a complete misnomer that is bandied around for effect.

'Operate within civilian areas' is maybe a correct term, but many groups do that!

I'm bored of using the IRA as an analagy, so let's use ETA for a change. If Spain had used Israeli tactics surely they would have carpet bombed San Sebastian?

Again, the only reason Israel can get away with this is..
1. because they are Isreal
2. because they have full backing of the USA and a mutual agenda.

So, we have this constant circular arguement.

I think the most deeply disturbing thing about this thread is the amount of people who seem to think it is perfectly fine to kill civilians and children just because a 'terrorist' organisation operates from the same area that they live in.
 
Yes indeed the RUC did not, but that is a world apart from indiscriminate killing of civilians and children.

The problem was solved(if thats the right term) by negotiation and diplomacy. It took 30 years.

I think considering the situation, the fact that all of the world apart from the USA & Blair condemn the Israelis, speaks volumes itself.

Of course the USA is right and everyone else is wrong...Oh and of course anti-semetic

Sure Israel is firing at Hezbollah positions for self defense. So Hezbollah fires at Israeli civilians from places with high numbers of Lebanese civilans so it is impossible for Israel not to hit some civilans. Than Hezbollah shows the dead Lebanese civilans on tv telling us how evil Israel is.

Israel is getting away with just as much as Iran & North Korea. Iran is backed by Russia and North Korea by China.


And a disturbing amount of people who would allow a non-country to conduct war by firing missles into civilian area without response.
 
Ok, even I think you're over the top here. Killing children regardless of race, ethnicity, or creed is just wrong.

Prove these pictures are fakes. Don't just babble on about the source not being credible or some other crap like you usually do; actually find some evidence that these photos aren't genuine. Generally, the substance of what comes out of the hole under your nose is remarkably similar in consitency and smell to that which comes out of a duck's ass. So let's see you actually back it up for once and prove these pictures are fakes.
 
I'll bet if all the world thought jumping off a bridge was a good idea you'd be the first to follow their lead?
 
Personally I wouldn't necessarily jump straight away, but I would have a good look around for Israeli planes before not jumping.
