issue with samsung galaxy s?

I need to know if anyone out there has a samsung galaxy s.. if so when any of you tried to download the KIES CD onto your computer or laptop. Did your mobile phone keep flashing on and off stating that it was still intialsing.. if so what did you do??????

Please help as I have no idea what to do....

Does it mean I have a default phone now
