First, inb4 George Carlin, God Bless Him.
Latter, Why is he portrayed as a man? Some say god is female, some say the being has no gender.
Some will also say it is human to classify things, especially if no one understands.
What are your thoughts?
Couldn't we just say lord..?
So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.
Isaiah 66:11 - 13
For you will nurse and be satisfied
at her comforting breasts;
you will drink deeply
and delight in her overflowing abundance."
For this is what the LORD says:
"I will extend peace to her like a river,
and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream;
you will nurse and be carried on her arm
and dandled on her knees.
As a mother comforts her child,
so will I comfort you;
and you will be comforted over Jerusalem."
Galatians 4:26
But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.
Revelation 22:17
The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.
It seems to me like God has both male and female natures, according to the Bible
because like in " our father " prayer
father is a male not a female
and when jesus come to the earth. he's a man for real
when you talk about god of christian
Why do you think God created Adam first and then used a part of Adam to create Eve?Do you think that females wrote the bible?It is still a mans world,however,when the bible was written females had to keep there mouth shut.Fortunately in western society's women have made significant progress.
Well, conveniently, if God is male, that means that men on earth are God's representatives and thus should be paid homage and respect in a manner akin to God.
This sure makes it easier to control those rebellious women and keep them from learning and speaking and stuff.
Males were "seen" to be more powerful than females for a while. A female god may have started the idea that males are inferior to females. Men happened to appear more powerful and wanted to keep it that way.
genders were made solely for the purpose of fellowship and reproduction by God. He's simply above needing/having a gender. i just refer to Him as a "He" outta habit, and "It" sounds rather irreverent. so there you go.
